Rosario Mining District

Mining History

The Rosario Mining District is host to world-class precious metals mines and projects, notably, the historical multimillion-ounce Rosario gold-silver mine, whose operational life spanned over 250 years.

The Plomosas underground mine was operated successfully by Grupo Mexico between 1986 and 2001, when the mine was closed at a time of low commodities prices. GR Silver Mining acquired this project from First Majestic in March 2020.

GR Silver Mining’s San Marcial Area resource is located only 5 km to the south of the historical Plomosas underground mine.

GR Silver Mining’s El Habal property and Rosario concessions border the historical Rosario Mine concessions. El Habal includes historical artisanal workings (both surface pits and underground workings) and covers a geological setting and oxide gold mineralized zones analogous to Rosario’s reported ore geology.
